The Áth Trasna Team participated in the KNEE-DEeP study led by Helen O Leary PhD, MSc Clinical Therapies, BSc (Physio), Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist and other researchers at the University of Limerick.
The study focused on improving care for individuals with degenerative meniscal tears and early knee osteoarthritis.
As part of the study, the medical and nursing team of the practice took part in a Knee Pain Workshop. We appreciate the patients of the practice who also participated in this study.
The KNEE-DEeP intervention included strategies to address barriers at different levels:
- Patient level: Promoting patient knowledge and understanding of their condition and the benefits of exercise.
- Provider level: Educating healthcare professionals on best practices for managing these conditions.
- System level: Facilitating access to appropriate care and resources.
The study assessed the feasibility of implementing the KNEE-DEeP intervention in a real-world setting.
