Childhood Care & Immunisations

We provide all recommended childhood immunisations as well as additional vaccinations upon request, such as the chicken pox vaccine.
Please contact the practice and we will book your child in for their vaccine.
The vaccine schedule is as follows;

  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 12months, MMR
  • 13months

Under 8 GP VISIT CARD

As you may be aware, the Government recently announced the expansion of free GP care to all children under the age of 8.

If your child is under 8 you can apply online for a Doctor Visit card from 11th August 2023.

The under 8 GP visit card is valid for:

  • GP consultations
  • Urgent out-of-hours GP care

Hospital fees and medication costs are not covered under the scheme.

Please be aware that there is a requirement for your child to have a valid Under 8 card number for your child to be able to receive free GP care. If you do not have a valid card, there may be a charge for your child’s consultation.

To register your child you need to provide your:

  • PPS number
  • Child’s PPS number
  • GP’s name 

School Vaccine Programme

  • During the school year:
  • Children in Junior Infants will be offered 4 in 1 and MMR vaccines.
  • Students in first year of secondary school will be offered HPV, Tdap and MenACWY

All the vaccines given in the schools’ immunisation programme are free.
